About Lara

Lara Riscol writes about the intersection of sex and society, with a focus on political and cultural contradictions, media, and gender. She has been published in The Nation, Salon, AlterNet and other national media outlets, and is working on a book called, Ten Sex Myths That Screw America: The Case for Pleasure. Her stories go beyond ambien smut and sanctimony to evoke truth and a more grown up conversation about sex. Riscol is a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and serves on the editorial board for the American Journal of Sexuality Education.
